25th April 2014 has been on our minds for a while. It’s the deadline for everything, visas, insurance, passports, packing, goodbyes. At 20:40 we leave on our flight to Dubai! I’m not going to pretend I’ll know how I’ll feel at that moment because right now the main concern is still whether or not my bag will carry everything I think I want to take/my final rabies jab is looming/no one has any faith in my skin not to turn lobster red and remain that way for the entire six months the second we cross the first international timeline… Whatever, we’re going to play in fun foreign countries for half a year, joke about be being pale all you want.

Expect the standard format of “oh look this is us drunk in Bangkok, there’s a lady boy in the back ground and tomorrow we’ll post pictures of us getting close and personal with some elephants” that will make you want to bash your head on the office desk/bar/smart phone screen. But also hopefully some things with a bit more substance, after all we do both have 2:1’s in a creative writing degree, so this blog should be full of insightfully crafted writing, drafted, edited, carefully proof read prior to publishing? NOPE… it will be scattered and rushed in between all the exciting things we want to do/see and its purpose is simple, our family friends want to know what we are up to (most of what we’ll be up to) and this is where we’ll store all the golden bits.
