Bang Kok

So Bangkok is as “unique” as everyone warned us. Rats, dodge street food, and THE SMELL.

However, we had some hilarious nights out and met some absolute characters. Everyone seems to have some complex travel stories, and there we are having just spent 3 days in Dubai…

Day 1: We arrived at about 8:30pm, and Khaosan Road was in full swing. Not knowing where on earth we were going, we carried on walking down the street and hoped for the best. We found the hotel, went out and had our first Pad Thai and Chang. Then more Chang. And more Chang. Then we met some crazy Swedish girls, one of whom ate a fried scorpion. Welcome to Thailand ladies and gents.

Day 2: I was hanging. Rose had already been struck with ‘Bangkok belly.’ Soo all in all, this day was a massive write off. We did manage to get out in the evening and do some street bartering on the classic touristy bracelets, tops, etc. The stomachs were feeling ok at this point so we plied them with more thai food and Chang at The Silk Bar. We met a few Israeli people who had some awesome travel stories, but if we had stayed with them we would have ended up in the same state as the night before…bad times. So we bought some crisps (our only reliable food source, yet highly tempted by a Maccys), and scoffed them before bed. We had a jam packed day planned tomorrow, up early and then meeting Alice at the airport in the evening! How exciting…!!

Day 3: Nope. We did nothing.
Lets just say i’m the only yet to take imodium on this trip (as impressive as this is, I can’t help but think I am SERIOUSLY tempting fate). Anyway, you get the idea. We went to the airport to pick Alice up in the evening but with her phone not working and the utter airport carnage at that time of day, this was a potential shocker. Somehow, SOMEHOW, we bumped into her. It can only be described as a ‘totes emoshe’ reunion. She had made a friend along the way called Josh who came back to Khaosan Road with us, and was a terrible influence on the beer front…several towers (and the rest) later, we were throwing some shapes in the street. We became The Wolfpack. Tacky bracelets ‘n’ all. Rose was getting very Snapchat happy and Alice had peaked after a very valiant effort.

Day 4: Same. Old. We actually made the effort to have some sort of breakfast. Didn’t go down too well did it Rose?! I was fading. So was Alice. This day called for one thing and one thing only…a Maccys.

All in time for our 12 hour bus trip to Chiang Mai. Beaut.
